Hello! I’m Emily, the owner and lead wedding photographer of Poppie Studios. One of my favorite things in the world is the ability to share in the love of two souls as they come together as one. I feel blessed to get to work with such wonderful people as a Tallahassee Wedding Photographer.
Based out of Tallahassee, Florida, I have been shooting weddings for almost ten years now! I feel very fortunate to have found my dream job and passion in life. I was just recently named Best Northwest Florida Wedding Photographer by Lux Magazine.
When I’m not behind the camera, you can find me at the beach with my two rescue fur-children, Bailee and Frank. We take total advantage of the abundance of sunshine every chance we get! My hunky husband, Tim and I love running foot races together, in fact our first date was a 5k! And because life is all about balance, we usually enjoy pizza after a race. Our favorite date night is getting dressed up and attending wine dinners, pretending like we’re wine connoisseurs.
After graduating from Ball State University with degrees in Fine Art Photography and Advertising Art, I started documenting weddings of friends and family members to build up my portfolio. In 2010, I started my own business and have never looked back!
Lighthearted and Sincere
I take all of my photos in intimate, relaxed settings and try to use natural lighting as often as possible. Most noticeably though, I shoot beautiful, grainy, yummy film – which naturally lends itself to the light, airy photos we’ve all come to love
I have second-shot for some amazing fellow Tallahassee Wedding Photographer and also work with second shooters for my own clients weddings. It depends on the size of the wedding, but typically it will be only myself, although you can always add on a second photographer for an additional cost.
Many brides love the idea of having their weddings published! Who doesn’t? My work has been featured on Design Aglow, Four Magazines and The Rising Tide Society. While some of my sessions get featured, but this is not something that is guaranteed. Most publishers are interested in colorful, uniquely designed weddings!
Of course, not everyone gets married in a church or needs a full day of wedding photography coverage. Depending on availability and the number of hours you have set aside for photography, I have special rates for weekday weddings and elopements.
I totally understand wanting to see your wedding photos as soon after the big day as possible. After all, I’ve been a bride myself. Because I shoot film, it must be processed by an outside lab. Their standard turnaround time is 3 weeks for the lab. After that, I cull, edit and refine your photos with an average delivery date approximately 6 weeks after your wedding day.
Wedding Photos Deserve to be Printed
I believe photos should be printed and tangible. However, I also understand our crazy schedules and how difficult it can be to sit down several weeks after your wedding to look at your wedding photos in person. That’s why your photos will be provided via an online gallery, which remains online for 90 days from date of delivery. From the gallery you can order various products such as prints, enlargements and frames. I recommend that you download all of your photos and store them in a secure place (iCloud, DVDs, etc). After 90 days, albums are moved offline to my offsite storage provider.
Planning a destination wedding and looking for a Tallahassee wedding photographer to come with you? I love destination weddings and have been lucky enough to travel for client’s weddings. Send me more information about your travel plans and I’ll create a custom wedding collection to meet your needs.
If you’d like to chat via phone or meet in person, just let me know and we’ll schedule a time that works for our schedules.
I know you have virtually unlimited options when it comes to choosing a Tallahassee wedding photographer. It means the world that you’ve reached out to me. I’d love to document the most important day of your lives.
