In case you missed the news, Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2019 is called Living Coral and it’s a fabulous pinky orange hue. It’s reminiscent of sunsets, marine life, peaches and gorgeous tropical flowers.

About the color, Pantone says Living Coral is:

An animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.

We’ll see Living Coral used in fashion, home decor and marketing, but how can you use this Living Coral color in your wedding? To demonstrate, I thought, why not showcase my very own wedding – photographed by the beautiful and wildly talented Shannon Griffin.

I don’t know about you, but Living Coral is my jam. I love coral and shades of orange have been my favorite for years – I even have an orange toaster oven and Kitchen Aid stand mixer. If that tells you anything about how excited I am and that Living Coral truly is my soul color!

So when it came time to plan my own November 2017 wedding, Living Coral (though I didn’t know it was called that at the time) was at the top of my inspiration board.

Using Living Coral in my wedding came naturally for me, but I didn’t use it just as is. I used shades of it, and complimentary hues too! The first piece of any wedding are the Save the Dates and invitation suites. My custom wedding stationery featured smokey blue gray and copper to compliment Living Coral in my wedding color palette.

Copper geometric terrariums served as table centerpieces and custom handmade geometric boutonniere pins were made with copper too! Our handmade ceremony backdrop was surrounded by one-of-a-kind copper chairs and corn hole bean bags were a shade of Living Coral. So when you’re trying to use Living Coral in your wedding, think about the whole spectrum of coral by including copper or rose gold too!

Our reception decor included copper geometric hanging pendants above the wedding party table. Which also featured florals in beautiful shades of Living Coral at our wedding. The cake sat atop a copper geometric stand and featured more of that smokey blue grey hue with bold pops of Living Color and similar colors.

Even the top that I wore while getting ready was Living Coral! See guys, I’m not making this up, Living Coral really is my soul color!

The bridesmaids chose their dresses, the only guideline was they needed to be floor length and champagne in color with sequins. The groomsmen wore seersucker jackets (there’s that smokey blue grey again!) with navy pants. Both the champagne and seersucker served as neutral tones, letting the Living Coral inspired florals really pop!

And of course our furchildren were in the wedding too! Bailee wore a handmade champagne sequined harness with her own Living Coral floral collar. And Frank wore a handmade seersucker harness featuring a mini geometric boutonniere pin!

Our flower girl carried a copper geometric basket, decorated with, you guessed it, Living Coral color palette florals and filled with lavender for her to toss. And our ring bearer carried one of the handmade geometric terrariums.
