Cheyenne is probably my new girl crush. I wanted to get to know her as a bride, but also a new friend, as soon as her inquiry email came through. She was so authentic. So real. And reminded me so much of myself as a bride trying to create a beautiful wedding. DIYing a LOT of things herself. Doing all this while without power for weeks, thanks to Hurricane Michael. Her hard work paid off. Their wedding at Space at Feather Oaks ended up being a truly stunning garden wedding, full of rich colors and vibrant handmade decorations.
In a moment of vulnerability, Cheyenne reached out just a few days prior to their romantic garden wedding to say that she probably wasn’t like most brides. And this probably wouldn’t be like most other weddings I’m photographed. She and her family made most of the decorations themselves. They didn’t hire a planner or event rentals. But she made sure to tell me that the two things she budgeted for were this gorgeous venue… and me, their photographer.
My heart swelled so much when she said that, I cried. To mean that much to a bride. It’s almost hard to fathom. But like I said earlier, Cheyenne and I are kindred spirits. Those were the two things I made sure my husband and I budgeted for with our own wedding. Because with a gorgeous venue and professional photographer, any wedding can look and feel breathtakingly beautiful.
So when I finally met Cheyenne, in the bridal suite the day of her wedding, I set down my equipment and gave her a big, big hug. This is a truly amazing woman. Full of beauty and grace. Light and laughter. But most importantly love. She wanted the day to focus on the love she felt for Trey.
I say all of this because it’s my hope that other brides who may have doubts about whether they’re “good enough” to hire me as their photographer, will know this: I am with you. I am one of you. I struggle with self-doubt in so many ways. Especially when it came to my own wedding day. But then I got the photos back from my amazing photographer and for the first time in my life, I saw that I was beautiful. And that I was worthy.
It is my hope that my photography will do the same for all of my brides. To help you see your beauty, especially on your wedding day. All brides are worthy of beautiful wedding photography.
Back to Cheyenne and Trey’s beautiful garden wedding. A very touching moment from their day included using a piece of Cheyenne’s brother’s shirt as her something blue. He passed away several months prior to the wedding and his widow was one of the bridesmaids. It was her idea to cut heart shapes from one of his blue shirts. She, Cheyenne and the mother of the bride each took turns cutting out a heart shape and tucking it into their bouquets.
Another touching moment was Cheyenne and Trey’s first look. While we took full advantage of the garden wedding for their portraits later on, I wanted this moment to be a little more intimate. The mother of the bride pinned Trey’s boutonniere on him moments before. Cheyenne tapped him on his shoulder and the joy on Trey’s face was priceless and so touching.
Emily is amazing. She was not only so professional, but just a really fun person to work with. I’m not really the picture taking type, but I never once felt awkward or staged. We corresponded for months before my actual day, and she always answered any questions I had quickly and thoroughly. Now that I’ve met her in person I can honestly say I feel like she’s not just my photographer, but a friend. She went above and beyond to make my day as special as possible and got all the photos I wanted and more. She was so helpful the day of and even sewed a button onto my dress last minute when it popped off! She really will try and help you and make it as easy as possible to create memories that last. I highly recommend her if you want someone who genuinely cares about your special day.

Thank you, Cheyenne and Trey, for choosing me to photograph your garden wedding. Your wedding was truly beautiful and that’s because you both are beautiful people, inside and out. It was my honor to serve you xoxo
