Lainey + Matthew | Lichgate Wedding | Tallahassee Photographer

Lainey and Matthew were married under the big, beautiful Live Oak tree at Lichgate on High Road and they celebrated their union in style by dancing the night away at Liberty Bar. Their Lichgate wedding was intimate, with close family and friends surrounding them in love. We stopped at Lake Ella on the way to the reception for bride and groom portraits before heading on to Liberty Bar where they literally danced the night away, still dancing long after I said goodnight.

Lainey is the best kind of bride, she stumbled across my page when she was in the early stages of planning her wedding. It always make me smile when a bride find me without any referral and chooses me to photograph her wedding because it means she loves my work enough to book me without a friend or vendor referral. Not to diminish referrals by any means, but organic bookings are equally amazing.

The best way to describe their wedding is in the words of Lainey “romantic, intimate, minimal and modern” and I couldn’t agree more.

Lichgate wedding reminds me of fairytale or romance novel weddings – in a good way lol! Mixed with a hint of Ireland thanks to the stone walls and labyrinth tucked into the woods. But Lainey and her family did a great job of still making it feel modern and minimal. Pair that with the silver, gray, navy blue and white color palette and it was perfection. One of my favorite details was Lainey’s ring, a beautiful sapphire that pulled from the blue of her eyes.

The flowers were actually wooden and cloth, amazing and unique. Attached to her bouquet were sentiments of her father, who very unfortunately passed away rather suddenly just months before the wedding. The satchel held his wedding ring, his father’s wedding ring, the cufflinks her sister gave to him on her own wedding day and a locket containing some of his ashes. There is no doubt he was there with her and watched over the entire day. It was emotional, to say the least, but made these memories all the more meaningful.

Lainey’s sister, Valerie, helped with hair and makeup as they got ready in the cottage onsite at their Lichgate wedding. The small intimate space, paired with her family’s welcoming and super fun personalities made it one of the most fun wedding-preps I’ve ever photographed. Her gown was by Mori Lee and was absolutely stunning, especially when paired with her gorgeous lace-trimmed veil.

After their Lichgate wedding, we took a moment at Lake Ella, just Lainey and Matthew, to capture some bride and groom portraits. The light here was a-ma-zing and the Weeping Willows were the perfect backdrop to showcase her gown and gorgeous skin. Matt looked pretty dapper too 😉 Honestly though, I asked him more than once if he had modeled before because he had a knack for it.

Lainey and Matthew entered the reception and went straight into their first dance, Stand By Me by Skylar Grey. Once the reception at Liberty Bar got started, and the dance floor was opened, it was nonstop the rest of the night. It was a beautiful day, a truly wonderful couple and a night full of laughter and dancing. Lainey and Matthew, congratulations! It was a honor and privilege to photograph your day. xoxo
